106 Time Management For Mompreneurs

I am celebrating living. Today is a gift that is why we call it the present. I woke up breathing today and I get to talk to you today and that definitely calls for a celebration.

It is the small things in life that we need to celebrate.

Being a momprenuer, you likely have more things to do than the time to do them. If you feel you are barely managing to juggle motherhood and all the ins and outs of running your business, you are not alone and all it means is that you need to take some time to take a good, hard look at how you spend your time.

As momprenuers we don’t have a physical boss or superior crimping over our shoulders to finish our work. However, you want to be accountable for yourself and think that you still have a boss. “Your priorities are your boss” and “When you say ‘I don’t have time for that,’ you’re really saying that’s not a priority for me now.”

Many moms try to do multiple things at once, thinking that it will save time. I used to do this. Unfortunately, most of our multi-tasking efforts will not be effective time-savers. This is where we want to learn from men and be more single tasked and lazor focus on one thing that needs to get done for the day.

So instead of running circles around yourself, make top priority item of what must get done for the day. Get these essential tasks done when there are no distractions around you. The rest of the items on your other do to list can be like the icing on the cake. Even if you do not get to them, you will know that the most essential tasks are complete.

To do lists are daunting, our brain somehow subconsciously hates to do lists. Over the years, I’ve actually thrown out the habit of listing things to do, instead, it’s scheduled on my calendar, if it’s not on my calendar, I’m probably not gonna get to it. For those who can’t live without their to do lists, I always ask my clients to change them to a different name, tada list or done list.  Raise your hand when finish, it is a power pose psychologically scientific proven to empower us.

Work backwards, schedule your mom duties or non-negotiables first.

There is plenty of technology within arm’s reach that you can put to work for you. Reminder lists, alarms, timers, and calendars to manage your time.

The best part being a mompreneur, you have the opportunity to demonstrate to your children how to successfully manage time. You can show them how to be productive and enjoy a rewarding career. When they grow old and have their family they will value that time and kind of balance.

These tips can help you to manage your time as effectively as possible so that you can also enjoy spending time with your kids.

  • Chunking
  • Schedule downtime
  • Add buffer for child sickdays and other contingencies
  • Make appointments for yourself.
  • Have office hours for social media
  • Set healthy boundaries
  • Value your own time and other’s time
  • There is No right or wrong
  • There is no perfect day
  • You CAN change things and you should change things.
  • Call yourself back when you are wondering off
